ILKLEY Town moved up to second in the North West Counties League First Division North following a 3-2 win at leaders Pilkington.

But the Baht’atters suffered an early setback when Pilkington’s Callum Laird scored after just a minute of Saturday’s clash.

Town equalised through a Gary Kenny own goal on 34 minutes, but Pilkington restored their lead via Adam Gilchrist three minutes before the interval.

In the second half Ilkley took over and quickly equalised through George Gomersall on the hour mark.

The visitors then grabbed a late winner for a fine victory on the road in the 76th minute via Kevin Gonzalez Mele.

The victory put Town up to second only three points behind the leaders. However, Pilkington grabbed a 2-0 victory at Daisy Hill with their game in hand on Monday night, to extend their lead over Town to six points.

Ilkley had a league game at Holker Old Boys on Tuesday night and are then back in home league action when they host Darwen this Saturday.
