THE 29th edition of the Ilkley Triathlon run by Leeds and Bradford Triathlon Club took place at the Ilkley Lido on Sunday September 25, and this year’s event had over 400 competitors signed up.
The race comprises of a 500m pool swim, a 15km cycle and a 5km run around a challenging and hilly circuit.
The winner of the men’s race was Ben Hill in a time of 54:26, the female winner was Megan Wilkinson (1:04:40) and the team event was won by Team Pendle (53:21).
The race is very popular with the locals and the LS29 prize was this year won by Rebecca Shaw( 1:11:59) and Danny Thompson(58:04). The prizes were handed out by Olympic Gold medallist and previous winner of the event Jonny Brownlee. Next year’s 30th Anniversary event will again take place in September and entries will open in May 2023 on www.ilkleytriathlon.co.uk
