GUISELEY boss Mark Bower believes his side could be ready to dish out a hiding as they bid to maintain their impressive start to life in the National League.

The Lions face Aldershot at Nethermoor on Saturday having collected seven points from their opening four games, a sequence which has encouraged hopes of a successful first-ever campaign in non-league’s top flight.

They drew 1-1 at Barrow on Tuesday night to make it three games unbeaten and host the Shots this weekend to cap a hectic period of five games in two weeks.

Bower believes his side could have taken all three points in Cumbria and is confident the floodgates will soon open.

He said: “We had chances at Barrow and I’m disappointed we have not taken those, but I’m sure the goals will come.

“The bigger concern is when you’re not creating the chances.

“I don’t like to say it but I think sooner or later, someone is going to get done by us by three or four goals – hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

“But I’m pleased with how we are playing and the build-up play because we are certainly creating those chances and I’m sure the goals will come.”

Guiseley lie tenth in the table after four games while Aldershot are winless and currently lie in the relegation zone.

Yet Bower is expecting a stern test against the Hampshire outfit and will check on the fitness of his squad at training tonight.

The Guiseley boss said: “It will be another difficult one because they’re an established Football League/Conference side over the last few years.

“It will be a tough test but we will patch ourselves up on Thursday and look to go again.

“The lads’ fitness levels have looked good and they were pushing forward in the 94th minute at Barrow.

“I thought we have looked fit and strong over the course of the 90 minutes in the three previous games as well.

“We’ve had a spell of five games in the first two weeks and we can have a little breather after that.

“Hopefully we can finish this sequence of five games with a good performance and a good result.”
