BINGLEY Harrier Jonny Brownlee has been ruled out of competition until September by a stress fracture of his thigh bone.

The 25-year-old Great Britain triathlon star, from Bramhope, had been training in St Moritz in preparation for the next round of the World Triathlon Series in Hamburg on July 18.

However, injury has now ruled the 2012 Olympic bronze medallist out until the autumn, with Brownlee targeting a return to action in the Chicago leg of the world series grand final starting on September 15.

"Back from St Moritz earlier than I hoped. Got a femoral stress fracture. Hope to be back for Chicago!" he wrote on Twitter.

"On a positive note. My aims for the next weeks include watching lots of @leedsrhinos and getting Leeds United promoted on Football Manager!"
