ILKLEY Civic Society has announced the return of its Design & Conservation Awards.

The presentation to local businesses, organisations and individuals will be held on Thursday, March 28.

Awards and commendation certificates will be presented to a wide variety of projects which have succeeded in making a valuable contribution to improving the townscape of Ilkley or its surrounding landscape. Projects, selected from a long list of over 30 projects from the last two years, include a variety of private residences, one commercial, one leisure and a number of volunteer lead natural environment projects.

The society has secured a guest speaker, who will be known to many in the town. Adam Clark is joint founder of the national architects practice based in Ilkley, Halliday Clark but now retired from the business. Adam will speak prior to the awards presentations about his work with the practice over 30 years and more recently as the chair of the judging panel for the Yorkshire Region RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Awards.

Chair of Ilkley Civic Society Helen Kidman said: "It’s good to be back with an impressive list of projects from which to select schemes that add to the sense of place, that brings so many people to the town.

"Our winners will be invited to the presentation on Thursday 28th March at Church House, Church Street from 5.30pm and members of the public are invited to attend as well as our own ICS members."
