DESPITE inclement weather, exhibitors produced a great 63rd Ilkley Show.

The Clarke Foley Centre, now well established as the Show's venue was buzzing with interest as increased numbers of visitors and exhibitors took part. On show were fruit, flowers, flower arrangements, vegetables, photographs, paintings and all manner of crafts and marvellous baking well up to the standard of the Great British Bake Off. Men's baking attracted seven entrants this year a welcome result. Worthy of note were the luscious ruby coloured jams and topaz tinted marmalades.

The Show's President, Alan Titchmarsh said in his message: "Ilkley Show is a way of demonstrating skills and of sharing them with others in the hope that not only will they enjoy what they see, but will also be tempted to participate."

A show spokesman said: "As a community event the Show is priceless and a reminder of the age of community and a marker to look forward to in the year. Thanks must go to every one involved in the Show, the Ilkley Parish Council, the Rotary Clubs, KIVCA, generous firms who have advertised in the Schedule and donates prizes, to our President Alan for his encouragement, a donation and a signed copy of his book. Then there are the judges who we thank for their expertise and the committee members who work hard throughout the year organising the Show. We also acknowledge the makers of tea and coffee and performers of general duties who keep us all going. Most of all a huge thank-you to all entrants and exhibitors for without them all there would be no show."
