THIS Saturday there is a chance to walk the first phase of the planned Wharfedale Greenway.

Burley, Menston and Pool Parish Councils and Otley Town Council have been working together for the last three years to create a Wharfedale Greenway using the route of the old railway line that was closed in the 1960s. The partnership has involved discussions with landowners, agreeing routes and working out costs.

The project is now at the stage where the first phase of the Greenway from Otley to Burley is ready for final costings and the submitting of bids for funding. This Saturday (September 3) is a chance to walk the first phase of the Greenway, hear about the plans and have a chance to put forward any of your views.

The walk begins at 9.30am from outside Goods Funeral Services, 82 Bradford Road, Otley, LS21 3LE and the walk will take about two hours ending with a cup of tea/coffee in Queens Hall, Burley and a chance to see the revised plans. From Burley the X84 bus leaves at 9.06am and gets to Bradford Road at 9.20am

Councillor Stuart Bottomley: Chair of Community and Environment Committee Burley Parish Council added: "It has taken time to get the Greenway to this stage but we are now ready with Phase One Otley to Burley and would like you to help with planning the Greenway by taking part in walking from Otley to Burley this Saturday."
