A WHARFEDALE MP has been discussing some of the issues facing Armed Forces veterans with The Royal British Legion.

Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) also discussed this year's First World War commemorations when he met the charity's area manager, Debbie Harding.

Mr Mulholland attended a Legion event at Parliament to show his support and find out more about the challenges faced by veterans, including hearing loss, health concerns and social care.

Mr Mulholland said: "I enjoyed meeting staff from The Royal British Legion and learning more about the work being done in my local area.

"Members of the Armed Forces community make huge sacrifices in the service of our country, and I am proud to support the work of the Legion in honouring the memory of the fallen and building a better future for the living."

The Legion has also, in advance of this summer's centenary commemorations of the Battle of the Somme, produced a comprehensive toolkit to help local communities organise their own commemorative events.

Ms Harding added: "I was delighted to see Greg and we were grateful he took the time to drop in."
