A PIRATE-THEMED fundraising ball in memory of Harry Buckley takes place next month.

Harry’s Pirate Ball will take place at The Craiglands Hotel, Ilkley, from 7pm on Saturday, April 25. The black-tie event will feature a three course meal and live music from V Five, followed by a disco.

Proceeds will go to children’s cancer charity Candlelighters and Nuzzlets farm, which takes animals to local children’s hospices.

Harry, a pupil at The Whartons Primary School, Otley, died on April 8 last year aged six-and-half, following a two-and-a-half-year fight against neuroblastoma cancer. The book he wrote during his final months, Runaway Joey!, has proven a hit with children and is also raising money for both charities.

Tickets for the ball cost £40, which includes a drink on arrival, and can be purchased from Sarah Buckley on 07967 722120, e-mail: s_dedman@hotmail.com. Anyone who would like to donate raffle prizes or donations to cover costs is also asked to contact Sarah on that number.

l Ten mothers from The Whartons completed the 5km Major Series Mud Run on Mother’s Day in memory of Harry and Oliver Marshall, who died from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, aged four.
