ILKLEY Grammar School students will take their version of Othello to the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds on Saturday October 18 as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival.

Shakespeare School Festival is the UK's largest youth drama festival, offering students from all backgrounds the opportunity to perform Shakespeare on their local professional stage.

Up and down the UK, cast workshops have been taking place, involving more than 1,000 schools and students, giving them the chance to experience Shakespeare in the most exciting way possible

An all-female cast has been working on their production of a shortened version of Shakespeare's play 'Othello' and are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase their talents at The Carriageworks Theatre.

Key themes in their production are jealousy and manipulation as Iago conspires to bring about Othello's downfall leading to many deaths. The cast have created an atmospheric piece which not only brings the characters to life but also the evil mind of Iago.

They are supported by three technical students who operate the lighting and stage manage the show.

On the evening there will be three other reduced Shakespeare plays performed by different groups.

Tickets cost £8.75 and £6.75 for concessions and are available from the box office on: (0113) 224 3801. The performances begin at 7pm.
