POLICE are urging residents to help them catch robbers who targeted two teenage anglers as they slept near Yeadon Tarn.

The 16 and 19 year old victims, both male and from Bradford, had been camping beside the tarn on Friday, September 5 when the incident happened.

They were woken at 3.55am by two men who entered each of their tents and threatened them with a mallet.

The robbers, both white and aged between 18 and 22, took a mobile phone and cash and left on foot heading towards Cemetery Road.

Officers and a dog unit from West Yorkshire Police attended but couldn't find them.

One was described as slim, about 5ft 11ins, with short, mousey brown hair and was wearing a white T-shirt with a tribal design on the front in black, and dark blue jogging bottoms.

The other was about 5ft 6ins and wearing a red shirt with dark blue jeans, and carrying a small torch.

Inspector Richard Coldwell, who heads the Outer North West Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "This was a nasty offence against two teenagers who were simply out fishing at the tarn.

"I would urge anyone who saw the suspects in the area or who has any information that could assist the investigation to contact us via 101.”
